Pojagi ("poe-jah-gee") is a cloth patchwork panel made by a Jogakbo, a Korean seam technique, dating as early back as 42AD. The process is a type of quilting, utilizing small pieces of cloth and reversible seams to create improvisational patchwork. Pojagi have many uses, including as gift wrapping, in weddings, and in Buddhist rites. More recently, they have been recognized as a traditional art form, often featured in museums and inspiring modern reinterpretations. In this one-day workshop, we will practice this patchwork technique to create a patchwork of your choosing. This is a great scrap-busting opportunity or a brilliant way to liven up any window or table. Any size panel is fine, you may have to work outside of workshop time. SKILL LEVEL : BEGINNER Previous experience with a sewing machine is recommended but not required. Materials not included. Non-stretch fabric only. Light to medium-weigh linen and cotton is best. Silk and ramie are common however may be harder to work with beginner sewists. If you do not plan to use scraps, determine yardage based on size of project + number of fabrics desired.
